Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25,1-13
Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them,
but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.
Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’
While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked.
Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’
But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”
Prudence is key in life
1 Stubborn: Stubborness is part of an attitude that does not look towards the future. Being stubborn, you do not consider the consequences of your actions. There are moments in life where our greed makes us foolish and stubborn. Anxiety is never a friend because it can lead us to make mistakes. When dealing with what is urgent, we forget to focus on what it matters in life. Don’t fall into foolishness; look into the future. And like we say in my country, lets not fall into : “BREAD FOR TODAY AND HUNGER FOR TOMORROW”… We must sow the seed and wait for it to grow in order to harvest.
2 Prudence : Prudence is learning to view things from different perspectives. The key is to focus on what is important and, by doing that, we avoid hardship. As we walk though life we learn prudence … don’t act like an adolescent , where you take risk after risk. In life you will face difficulties and temptations; the solution depends on your capacity, your prudence, and your prayer. With prudence you can obtain a profound peace in your life; without it , your life can fall into a constant struggle.
3 Be prepared: Christians must be attuned with reality. We are men and women who seek happiness with God, in God and for God. At times we feel down and defeated; however God will always help. God always sends someone or some event to remind you that you are unique, important, and that you must soldier on. Make each day in this world better than the last.
