Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1,12-15
The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert,
and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
1) The desert: it is that moment when one feels nothing and finds nothing. There is nothing to hope for because everything is negative; there is nothing. You feel empty, nothing fills or stimulates you. We all experience the desert in our life, no question about it, sooner or later you experience feeling spiritually empty. You don’t know which way to turn. It is that moment when you do not feel anything and where it seems that everything ends in nothing.
2) The beasts: they represent negative people that make you feel that everything is ugly. They send you all their negative vibes and it seems like everything you do is wrong or is not going to end well. The beasts always seek to make you afraid of life and try to show you how everything that comes to you is bad. Do not get together with this type of people because it is not like that. When people constantly look at everything through a negative lens, this does not help others grow.
3) Proclaim: a mature spiritual life allows one to proclaim God’s love. One manages to grow spiritually after experiencing those moments of desert and temptation. Today, God proposes that you proclaim His love with His grace but with your struggles and experience. Lent has begun. Take charge and grapple with it and face it because God wants to make you a giant of faith. Do not get together with negative beasts. Don’t walk in the desert always. Seek the most beautiful flower that is your own happiness.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Heaven is our goal!
