Mark 8,1-10

Mark 8 1 - 10

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 8,1-10

In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat, Jesus summoned the disciples and said,
My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.
If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a great distance.”
His disciples answered him, “Where can anyone get enough bread to satisfy them here in this deserted place?”
Still he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” “Seven,” they replied.
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then, taking the seven loaves he gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute, and they distributed them to the crowd.
They also had a few fish. He said the blessing over them and ordered them distributed also.
They ate and were satisfied. They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets.
There were about four thousand people. He dismissed them
and got into the boat with his disciples and came to the region of Dalmanutha.

I feel sorry

1) Pity: Jesus has pity on the crowd. He is sad to leave the people like this. He thinks of himself and thinks of others. This is one of the characteristics of Jesus that we shepherds must always practice: thinking of people; thinking of those who seek God’s Word.
Be attentive to the needs of your brothers. Remember, other people also give up things, suffer, and struggle, so don’t be indifferent. This is one of the keys of being a shepherd: to make life easier for others.

2) With what they have: Jesus doesn’t make their life easy and instantly solve everything. He expects us to make a contribution. Do not put everything on Jesus’s shoulders, make your contribution as well. Even a little effort can become a lot. Don’t be like that student who asks for the miracle of passing an exam, but he doesn’t even make the effort to study. Do not be that person who asks God for a good job, but doesn’t even start looking for one. Be humble and do your part.

3) Satiates: Jesus satiates and fills. He doesn’t let them starve. But it is everyone’s combined effort that leads to fulfillment. Jesus knows about teamwork. Today don’t expect to be everybody’s saviour; don’t think everything depends o
n you. Seek God and work hard! It is always better as a team.
God bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, Heaven is our goal.

Your contribution help us to continue with our mission
God Bless You!
