Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 26,14-25
One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot,
went to the chief priests and said,
“What are you willing to give me
if I hand him over to you?”
They paid him thirty pieces of silver,
and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread,
the disciples approached Jesus and said,
“Where do you want us to prepare
for you to eat the Passover?”
He said,
“Go into the city to a certain man and tell him,
‘The teacher says, My appointed time draws near;
in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples.”‘“
The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered,
and prepared the Passover.
When it was evening,
he reclined at table with the Twelve.
And while they were eating, he said,
“Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
Deeply distressed at this,
they began to say to him one after another,
“Surely it is not I, Lord?”
He said in reply,
“He who has dipped his hand into the dish with me
is the one who will betray me.
The Son of Man indeed goes, as it is written of him,
but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed.
It would be better for that man if he had never been born.”
Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply,
“Surely it is not I, Rabbi?”
He answered, “You have said so.”
Judas
1) Money: It leads him to lose the one person who gives him affection and love; who gives him an identity: that person is Jesus. In Judas, the apostle John asks us not to see a physical person, but rather a figure. You and I can have something like that of Judas. Because he gives Jesus away for coins; just money. Is it possible that sometimes you give your family away for money ? Have you given away the person that you love for those coins that give you “security” in life? Maybe later you realize, like Judas, that when you have the material wealth in your hands, you find yourself alone, and with no one around you. Make sure you are not “mortgaging” your family. It is not a question of if you already have money in your hands, but if you are giving to the one you love?
2) Prepare: Get ready… Let’s prepare for Easter! We are already aware of the quarantine and everything; but Easter is also coming. Get ready and be ready. Because three days are coming in which we have to make unforgettable; its a special time of prayer and meeting with Jesus. Prepare your heart, and be ready for beautiful days to celebrate your faith.
3) Jesus: Still, at the last moment, He offers Judas a chance to convert. He gives him the place of honor at the table; He shares a bite of food with the selected guest; He looks for a change in him at that proximity. It’s wonderful how much God seeks your conversion and your change! Take advantage of these days… this is the time to meet with God. But God never gives up. Until the last moment, God is looking for you.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember heaven is our goal !
