Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14,27-31a
Jesus said to his disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
You heard me tell you, ‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe.
I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over me,
but the world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded me.”
The peace process
1) Peace. I believe that there is no greater greatness than having a heart full of peace. That is why every liturgical celebration, including mass, revolves around peace. Having Jesus in your heart fills you with peace and today, more than ever, you and I must have peace. But peace means conviction, security and hope. See if you have those three ingredients in your life today.
2) Do not be troubled or afraid: what a nice phrase for today! We don’t have to worry or feel discouraged, we must go on. This too shall pass. This situation strengthens us as individuals and as a society… We must move forward and look ahead because we are not alone. There is a lot to do. It is like in times of war… When this is all over, we have to go out to rebuild the city and accompany those who have lost everything. In this pandemic, maybe not all of us have lost material things nor family members, but many of us have lost our smiles and our hopeful look. You and I are the ones who must be there to help so many people who need us because Christ lives in our heart.
3) Let the world know: that we are people who do things out of love. We struggle along because we love life, and we want to go on no matter what. We have that inner strength that allows us to turn the page and learn from our mistakes, because they are no longer mistakes but life experiences. You and I have a lot to give.
May God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And always remember Heaven is our goal.
