John 15, 9-11

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 9-11

Jesus said to his disciples, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.”

You will know the love of God in due time.

1) Abide: This abiding means a lot for me and for you. It means to concentrate your life on what makes you full and happy. Don’t “spread yourself too thin”; when you want to take on too much in your life, you can lose everything… even your happiness. It’s when you want to do a million things but, in the end, you don’t do a single one. Learn to focus and learn how to say: “No”. Only in this way can you continue to abide in God’s permanence; knowing and being clear about what you want for your life and what you don’t want.

2) Fulfil: God’s fulfilment comes through love; not for the sake of pleasing others, but rather for the love itself. Loving life and loving what you have around you. Sometimes our focus is on the things we don’t have and that leads us to forget what we do have. Your life is more than that! Love what you have and value what is around you. Love and value the people in your life.

3) Joy: Joy is what makes you feel full. Joy is what allows you to be authentic. Today, are you enjoying your life or are you always revolving around your needs and worries? You can have Joy or regret…it’s in your hands. What do you choose? You are the one who decides.

God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Don’t forget heaven is our goal !
