Mark 16, 15-20

Mark 16, 15-20 yt

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 16, 15-20

And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.’
So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.

With your feet on the ground and your eyes on the sky.

1) Feet on the ground: You and I, as Christians, know that extremes are bad. We are called to live normally. By keeping our feet on the ground, we cannot be aloof, blown up Christians living in an unreal world. We are called to know reality and also to insert ourselves into reality. Look at what’s around you.

2) The gaze in the sky: We must be realistic, but not those who go to the extreme of becoming pessimists… and even so far as nullifying the work of God among us with their negativity. Lifting our eyes upwards, implies knowing that there is always hope for those who believe. It is knowing that you have to give everything to God, even that which you don’t understand or do not know how to solve. The gaze towards the sky implies “I do what I can, and God does what I cannot.”

3) Fatima: Today we unite this celebration to another: the apparition in Fatima. That gaze of Mary to the simple children; the shepherds, gives us the example of walking firmly in this life and having a fixed gaze on heaven. Entrust your life and mine to Mary. Entrust the Church to Mary. She relieves us in our walk, and helps us keep our gaze fixed on heaven.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
