Matthew 12 46-50

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 12,46-50

While Jesus was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers appeared outside, wishing to speak with him.
Someone told him, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak with you.”
But he said in reply to the one who told him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Being Family

1) They tried to talk. Sometimes it may seem impossible to talk to God. People or activities get in the way and it becomes difficult for us to find time for prayer. Those are the situations that distance us from Jesus, and they do not allow us to have a sincere dialogue with Him. Try to recognize who or what in your life does not allow you to have your moment with Jesus and work to change that.

2) Who are they? We must understand that familiarity with Jesus goes beyond ‘family’ ties. Saying we believe in Him is not enough. Living a Christian life is not just for the pats on the back and photo opportunities of us being kind and loving. Christianity must be lived 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. People must be able to ‘see’ whether or not you are living the Christian lifestyle, so let your attitude show you are a Christian.

3) His will. In this life we are called to do God’s will and to discover that His will is best for our lives. Doing God’s will brings us peace, fervor and fulfillment. Are you doing God’s will? What do you need to change to start the process?
God bless you in the name of The Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit…and remember: Heaven is Our Goal!
