Matthew 9, 9-13

Matthew 9,9-13

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 9-13

As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

He came to the sick, not the healthy

1) He saw a man: Today Jesus sees you, with your weaknesses and your mistakes. He knows all the times you have messed up, but He keeps searching for you. It is He who comes to meet you where you are; He will never stop looking for you. His look is not one of judgement but one of love. Allow Him to win you over.

2) Share your goodness: Be with those who are in need. Don’t turn away from the person that you feel is ‘less’ than you; the one you may have already condemned. You are no better than anyone else, we all sin. Share your life with everyone. Your life story could be exactly what they need to change theirs.

3) Field Hospital: Go out to heal, do not be afraid. Your brothers and sisters need you. Do not look at them with judgement, rather look at them with love, like Jesus looks at you. Jesus needs your hands and feet to help heal the sick. Don’t dodge the mission He gives you. Today God is asking you to save yourself and others.

May God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And always remember Heaven is our goal.
