Mark 12, 28b-34

Mark 12,28b-34-FB

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 12, 28b-34

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.

The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
‘He is One and there is no other than he.’
And ‘to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself’
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
“You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Love

1) The great question. If our religion can be summed up in one thing, it is love. Yes, believe it or not… the beautiful experience of finding Christ leads us to love concrete persons and to act with love, not with interest. That Love moved St. Francis to leave everything and discover God in the simplest things. That Love led so many saints to leave everything and gain eternity. Today you could ask yourself: what do I do for love? or what am I capable of doing for love?

2) Love. We are referring to charity, a love that escapes the sentimental or the “give-receive” action. It is a love that comes from God. Not even distance is an obstacle because love ends up fulfilling and making the other person feel unique in my life, and my own life becomes joyous. Achieving this takes a lifetime because it is a process.

3) The madness of love: As I have just said, loving is a process in which you will go through the passionate, then the rational ,and then mature affection. Living in this type of love leads you to accept a different life, not better or worse, but rather different. It leads to happiness. May your madness of love be to make the day beautiful for the people around you. That’s a nice proposal for today! Always remember that Heaven is our goal!

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
