Matthew 9,27-31-fb

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 27-31

As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out,
“Son of David, have pity on us!”
When he entered the house,
the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them,
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they said to him.
Then he touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
And their eyes were opened.
Jesus warned them sternly,
“See that no one knows about this.”
But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

Two blind men

We are presented with the image of two blind men who ask Jesus to heal them so that they might see, but what is really happening inside these blind people? What goes on in the mind of a blind person? Let’s analyze this.

1) First, we find despair. If you’re in despair, you feel limited, something is holding you back and does not allow you to grow or achieve your goals. Blindness despairs them, it is an obstacle in their lives because they simply cannot see. Blindness can also be an obstacle in your life, not being able to see where your life is going, not seeing your goals, not being able to see who is truly with you and who is not. You might feel lost. All this leads you to lose your inner peace and when we lose our inner peace we fall into despair.

2) Second, the cry. This is the exteriorization of that inner struggle, when someone cries out desperately it is the manifestation of inner pain. They make their voice heard above other voices, that cry comes from real pain, from a life of pain and suffering. How often have you wanted to cry, sob, or shout out? Think of a painful time in your childhood or youth, or in your married life. You were really shouting “I need you!” Because a cry is a call for help. It is good to cry out to Jesus. It is better to ask for help than to be silent. When you express your needs and put your faith in Jesus, He will help you. Shout out with all your heart to Jesus! Cry out to Him in humility. It is true there are times when it seems God is a bit deaf, but simply ask him that you may “be able to see.” If you stay silent, His help might pass you by and you won’t recognize it when it comes.

3) Third, proclaim. They became witnesses. Jesus heals them and they go out to tell everyone about it. It is the happiness of someone who has been healed; the obstacles in their life have been removed. It is the joy of feeling relieved of so many sorrows. To receive the peace you desperately needed makes you want to jump for joy and share your happiness with others.

Today you are called to experience God’s tenderness. It is God’s love that heals your blindness. God’s mercy helps you overcome your obstacles and leads you to feel loved and wanted. Put your trust in God and His forgiveness; He has already forgiven you, trust in that. But don’t forget, you must call out and ask Him to heal you.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember Heaven is Our Goal !
