Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6, 7-13
Jesus called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
He sent them
1) He sent them. Jesus gives us the message that we are a missionary church. We are not a museum or a stagnant Church. We are a dynamic Church who seeks others, that takes risks and is always looking for the people that are in need. You and I and so many others are part of this Church. Remember we must fulfill the mandate of being a changing church that adapts rather than one that stays still.
2) In pairs. Jesus sends us to evangelize our community in pairs, because individualism is selfish and cannot subsist in the vision of the gospel. It is mandated that the job be done in pairs because it is necessary to testify that there are two axes in Christian life, the love for God and the love for mankind. This is the reason why we must fight individualism. It is hard to work with one another, to see a united front but God invites us to go out to evangelize together with another person.
3) Preach. We have to proclaim the love of God, to let everyone know that God loves us, and he died on the cross for us. He left his Mother to love us as well. Proclaim that we must change our lives and there is always a chance for us. Preach that God never leaves us alone and is always on our side. Proclaim that heaven exists and we will continue our work till we reach Heaven.
May God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Don’t forget that Heaven is our goal!
