Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mattew 5, 43- 48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies,
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers and sisters only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
We are contradictory
1) I say to you. Jesus makes it clear to us that the path we are walking along is different from the world’s path; success is not achieved by economic triumphs or the number of followers on social media. Our success comes from letting Jesus live within us so that we may truly identify with Him, that we may “Christify” ourselves, so to say. To love is truly the greatest thing that a human being can experience. One who loves, changes lives and is able to look at the world from a different perspective. When a person tries to harm us, Jesus proposes love as a response. Love will set a limit on that person and will help us not to be contaminated by those negative feelings. To love is to have the capacity to live life to the fullest and to fall in love with life.
2) Merit. The supernatural perspective is what allows us to put away what hurts us, to shut it out. God’s presence in our life allows us to open our eyes and see that life is more than difficulties or a wound that has been inflicted on us. A supernatural life allows us to see new opportunities and to be conscious of the possibility of being eternal. This is what God wants from us. An elephant does not worry about the sting of an ant. You are a giant of life, do not let the small bites of others, or of situations, get you down. You have received a call to greatness! You are a person of faith, and faith makes a difference because you know you have God within, and He is the key to your life.
3) Perfect. We are called upon to do the best we can. We are children of God and this is our greatest dignity. You are a person that must face obstacles every day at work, at home, and in your community. You are not the owner of the world, but you are the child of the owner, because you are God’s child.
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember, Heaven is our goal!
