Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 24, 37-44
Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark.
They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be (also) at the coming of the Son of Man.
Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
Hope
1) Noah’s time. Advent begins today. It is a time of penance and of expectation, as well. It is a time to realize that not everything is business or consumerism, a time to become aware that life cannot be lived in constant acceleration. In Noah’s time people lived a life without God, everything revolved around something else. But remember that life can end in an instant. The course of your life can change from one moment to another.
2) One will be taken. Who do you share your life with daily? I am referring to the person you have at your side today, the person who walks along the path of life with you and shares part of his or her history with you. But at some point, it will be time to part, because only God is eternal. Today, it would be great if you could make the person who shares life with you feel good and consider him/her a companion on the way.
3) Adventus. As I said before, Advent begins today. Prepare for the coming of Christ. Today is to think about where your heart is, to return to Jesus and leave aside everything that does not lead you to God. We begin the time of preparation for the coming of Christ. What will you do in this month to receive Jesus?
