Today, Sunday, November 27th we kickstart Advent; time of preparation for Christmas. May this selection of biblical quotes help you prepare for the birth of the Child God.
The word “Advent” comes from the Latin “adventus”, which means coming, arrival. Whose arrival? That of Jesus. For this reason, moreover, Advent is a time of preparation; not just the four Sundays, but also every day of the twenty-eight: from its beginning, on November 27th, until its end on December 24th.
Get ready. Our Father must know us very well. He knows about our urgencies and occupations, so much so that he gives us a lot of time so we can prepare our hearts and our souls for Baby Jesus to be born again in each one of us. Just like it is written in the beginning of Psalm 122, let us all sing loudly: “What joy when they told me: We are going to the House of the Lord!”.
So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
Matthew 24,44.
In those days John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea (and) saying, “Repent, 3 for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
Matthew 3, 1-2.
You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand.
James 5,8.
This is the one about whom it is written: ‘Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.’
Matthew 11, 10.
Through him we have received the grace of apostleship, to bring about the obedience of faith, for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles
Romans 1,5.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.”
Matthew 1, 22-23.
