An Appointment with the Bible (XIII)

Last Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, we started our Lenten journey, a very good reason to have an appointment with the Bible.

On February 22, Ash Wednesday, we started, once again, the Lenten season that will conclude with the celebration of the Greatest Week of our Faith and Easter Sunday.  Along this Lenten journey we will travel along a landscape rich in teachings.  Through them, Jesus will invite us to be humble in living our faith: we will see him being tempted in the desert, being transfigured on Mount Tabor and showing us that He needs our help when He asks the Samaritan woman for water. We will also see him show us his love and healing power when He heals the blind man and raises Lazarus from the dead.  And towards the end of Lent, in the Palm Sunday reading, He asks again for our help and our company in his most bitter and difficult hour.  With the intention of giving support in this journey to meet the Father, we have selected these quotations from the Sacred Scripture which correspond to the readings of the Masses of Ash Wednesday and Lent Sundays.  And, as they often say to pilgrims on the “Camino de Santiago” (Pilgrimage of Compostela, known in English as the Way of St James): “Buen camino! ” This greeting among pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago, conveys the desire that the journey be completed successfully.

“(But) take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father.
