Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 12, 28-34
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
You shall love the Lord
1.The first commandment. Loving the Lord is the most essential point of your life; it’s the core. That’s what your life should be based on. Love is what leads you to know where you’re heading and how you should live your life. It’s the starting point of everything you are going to face and of all your struggles.
2. Your neighbor. There is no doubt it’s difficult for us to live together, and surely there are brothers and sisters who are a real headache! But this is what Christianity is all about: learning to look at our brothers and sisters through God’s eyes; like Jesus would look at them. We must learn to accept their weak points; learn to accept them in their pains and even in their illnesses. I’m sure we are great headaches for God, but nevertheless, the sun continues to come out every day for all of us.
3.The way. Love is the key. Loving God you’re able to love your brothers and sisters, and to love yourself too. Through them you nourish your life and walk along the path towards God and happiness. Throughout the day, repeat an aspiration as a constant form of prayer for your brothers and sisters. Demonstrate your good wishes by smiling at others. As we are in the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we can repeat this aspiration: “Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you.” You show your love for God with your prayer, and you show others that God exists with your smile. Remember something good is on the way. God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
