Mark 12, 35-37

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 12, 35-37

As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
“How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?
David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said:

The Lord said to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I place your enemies under your feet.’

David himself calls him ‘lord’;
so how is he his son?”
The great crowd heard this with delight.

Sit at my right

1) To teach. If there is something that we must strengthen in our Christian life, it’s the education in our faith. We must educate ourselves in order to be able to teach others. We have tons of formative materials: the Catechism, ‘YouCat’ (the Catechism for the young), videos, web pages like digitalmissioners.com and many others. We must get busy and work on our personal development, to build up our faith. There is so much material, and so many people have contributed throughout centuries through meditations and studies! Why don´t we take our faith education seriously, and get busy studying?

2) To hope. We know that sooner or later God will come into our life. He wants to show you that with hope, everything can be achieved; everything is possible, and everything can be faced. It is true that anxiety takes you by surprise but keep trying, because life involves struggle and effort.

3) Listen. God has spoken to people throughout history, and King David had to listen to what God was asking of him and his people. Today, God wants to invite you to listen to Him and understand where He wants to guide you to, so that you can guide those people who are walking with you. You have a calling, and you must study to be able to lead others. Moreover, you must learn to live in hope. God is the Lord of time and does things exactly at the right time.

Never forget that something good is on the way.  God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
