Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1,12-15

The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert,
and he remained in the desert for forty days,
tempted by Satan.
He was among wild beasts,
and the angels ministered to him.

After John had been arrested,
Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
“This is the time of fulfillment.
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Temptations

1. The desert. The battlefield is the desert, it’s that place where you have nothing and nobody, where you feel alone. This spiritual desert comes to all of us sooner or later. It’s a time when you can’t find yourself, when feelings are wounded and when you feel lost. This desert even leads you to despair or hopelessness.  The desert is a part of your life that you must go through, sooner or later. It is that moment when you feel nothing and when it seems that everything is nothing.

2. Wild beasts. They represent those negative people who pretend that everything is dreadful; those who always give you bad vibes and who think that everything you do is wrong. The wild beasts always try to make you fear life and show you how awful everything is. You know it’s not so.

3. To proclaim. Maturity in our spiritual life becomes evident when we proclaim the love of God. One manages to grow after going through those times of desert and temptation. Today, God proposes that you proclaim his love through your daily struggle and experience.

Lent has already begun, get ready!  Don’t forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
