Matthew 8, 18-22

Following Jesus is a radical decision

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 8, 18-22

When Jesus saw a crowd around him,
he gave orders to cross to the other shore.
A scribe approached and said to him,
“Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”
Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests,
but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.”
Another of his disciples said to him,
“Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
But Jesus answered him, “Follow me,
and let the dead bury their dead.”

Following Jesus is a radical decision

1. Cross to the other shore. It’s the Lord who invites you to go out and search for those who are not yet in the Church, who have not met Jesus. We must reach out to those who do not know Jesus. Today, Jesus invites you to cross to the other shore.

2. Follow him. Following Jesus involves the conversion of your heart; it is a decisive change. We are not following an ideology but rather, a person, a living person who moves, breathes his life in us, and radiates love for each one of us. Following Christ changes your life and gives you the amazing opportunity to change the lives of others.

3. The adventure. Following Jesus demands that you and I give ourselves entirely to him. There is something amazing about you that only you have to offer to the world. Jesus doesn’t ask for a time or a stage of your life; He asks for your entire life. Following him involves adopting a different lifestyle, a change in your life view, and a different goal. What He promises you is something greater than what you could ever imagine or expect. Cross to the other shore and follow him, you will not regret it.

Remember something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
