Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11, 27- 28
While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”
Women. How great feminine intuition is! Today I’m thinking of so many women who’ve forged the faith of the Church in so many places. I’m thinking of grandmothers who’ve taught their grandchildren to pray, of catechists who takes the time to teach others about Jesus. God has given us great gifts through women, and we are very thankful to them and to God for them. We’re grateful to so many women who give their time and their closeness, and remind us that we are the Church.
Blessed she who carried you. Through Mary we can find happiness. She is the announced promise. In Mary we see a woman committed to God, we see Life itself. It’s a compliment to Mary, not only because she is Jesus’s mother, but also for the faith that she inspires. In Mary we learn to trust and have faith, to be servants of the Lord in order to live in that same freedom that the Lord himself gives us.
Listen and observe. We are called to listen, we must learn to listen and to be silent. Slow down and learn to listen. Give yourself time, but also give yourself the opportunity to listen to God and to listen to yourself. Never forget that something good is on the way! God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
