Luke 13, 1- 9

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13, 1- 9

Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
He said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them–
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”

And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not you can cut it down.’”

Conversion

1. I’ll cultivate. This is one of the tools that that God uses so that you’ll bear fruit. God wants to prepare the soil of your heart. Because perhaps over the years you’ve become hardened because of what you’ve gone through. Nothing affects you anymore, and you’re not aware of the gift that God has given you, so that you may share with others. Your heart’s drying up. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem! Work on your heart and see what you have to remove, change, turn around. If not, your life will dry up.

2. Fertilize. Apart from removing the soil, it’s necessary to add something to your life to make it stronger, to turn around, to change. You can’t manage on your own and, if you’re drying up, you need a touch of life, you need to be fertilized. Let yourself be helped, let yourself be accompanied by all those who love you. Look for that bonus in your family, in your close friends, in prayer. That’s where you’ll find the fertilizer you need. The only question is whether you want to be fertilized to improve your life or not.

3. Fruit. We must be fruitful in life. We can’t go around with our arms crossed or waiting for others to solve things for us. We must walk along and strive to achieve our goals. You’re called to bear fruit, to create, to satiate other people’s lives with your life. You might say to me “but I’m old and sick”, but you can also be productive, giving your all every day, doing your best with a positive attitude in spite of everything. The Lord has a lot of patience with you, He is the first to believe in you and encourages you to bear fruit. God gives you time, so take advantage of that and be fruitful.

Remember something good is on the way!

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
