Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13, 22-30

Jesus passed through towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
“Lord, will only a few people be saved?”
He answered them,
“Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough.
After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door,
then will you stand outside knocking and saying,
‘Lord, open the door for us.’
He will say to you in reply,
‘I do not know where you are from.’
And you will say,
‘We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.’
Then he will say to you,
‘I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, all you evildoers!’
And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth
when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God
and you yourselves cast out.
And people will come from the east and the west
and from the north and the south
and will recline at table in the Kingdom of God.
For behold, some are last who will be first,
and some are first who will be last.”

The narrow gate

1. Someone asked. We all have moments of doubt in our lives. Many times, you ask yourself if you are doing things right or not. You wonder if what you’re doing with your life is the right thing to do. All this leads you to seek Jesus and ask him to guide you because when you are lost there are no answers in you, just questions.

2. The narrow gate. All of us experience situations that are difficult for us and we live with some people that make our life a little harder. Christian life is not easy and there’s something that is hard and challenging for each one of us. We must be aware that being a Christian is a life option and leads us to make ourselves small in order to be great, because we know we are in need of God. Think of all the narrow gates you’ve gone through, all the difficult situations that you’ve experienced and that have led you to build your life as it is today. Remember the tough situations you went through and in which you asked God to guide you; they led you to see things in a different way because you became aware that God is with you.

3. Locked the door. Everything has a limit and there’s a time for everything. That’s why you must face situations and learn to contemplate them as Jesus would. There are things that are still hard for you, but eventually you overcome them if you learn how to accept them and face them. Life is not only about devotions and saying “Lord, Lord” all the time, it’s about embracing the whole of what your life implies and living it purposefully, with your eyes on eternity.

Never forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
