Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10, 46-52
As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.”
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me.”
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
“Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.”
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.”
Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.

1. Beggar-blind. You may be looking for someone else to solve your problems, for others to give you solutions or to satisfy your needs, but in addition to this, you may be blind. When you’re blind and needy you’re “vulnerable”, because you allow yourself to be led or even, used. That’s why ask Jesus to heal you and to give you back the ability to see your life and to know that only God fulfills you. Your life doesn’t depend on anyone, only on God and on yourself.
2. Rebuked. There will always be people who don’t like what you do or the way you face things in life, but that’s part of the sacrifice of seeing again. Don’t stop trying to find yourself to live your life again. There is nothing sadder than not going for it and striving to lead a fulfilling life. As long as you have a beating heart, there will be people who’ll try to help you keep trying. You must never give up and you must keep on putting yourself on the line.
3. I want to see. Ask Jesus to help you come out of that vulnerability that made you believe that your life depends on someone else. May He help you to see the things you can give others and what you can do with your life. Ask God to help you find what makes you feel alive, without depending on what others think or say. Remember that life is lived by facing it and not by hiding, by deciding and not by waiting for others to decide, by making mistakes and not by becoming the success story of others.
Never forget that something good is on the way! God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
