Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 14, 12-14
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees.
He said to the host who invited him,
“When you hold a lunch or a dinner,
do not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters
or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors,
in case they may invite you back and you have repayment.
Rather, when you hold a banquet,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.
For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Without expecting repayment
1. Reward. In this life do things for love and not expecting a reward. When you do things expecting payment or a reward, you may be disappointed, because you may never receive back the way you’ve given yourself. Jesus shows a different perspective, He teaches us the concept that we must do things without expecting to be paid or to receive favors in return. Do things from your heart and forget about it, even in relation with God himself. At this point I would like to remind your that what helps to give without expecting anything in return is to do things with passion. Learn to be passionate about what you do.
2. Guests. Learn to draw close to those who need you and not to those who are convenient to you. Don’t turn your life into a closed system with locked and cloned groups, in which you only accept those who are similar to you and those who think like you. Learn to share life with those who think differently and seek to embrace those who need you, but don’t colonize them, don’t attempt to make them like you or dependent on you. Seek to grow with those who don’t think like you and learn to find the positive aspects of every relationship.
3. Reward. Learn to do things for God, love without expecting a reward, because life is about giving everything you can without expecting anything in return. Don’t be a miser with your own life and enjoy every moment. Give yourself to others. Put your heart into life and live!
Remember that something good is on the way! God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
