John 3, 22- 30

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 3, 22- 30

Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea,
where he spent some time with them baptizing.
John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim,
because there was an abundance of water there,
and people came to be baptized,
for John had not yet been imprisoned.
Now a dispute arose between the disciples of John and a Jew
about ceremonial washings.
So they came to John and said to him,
“Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan,
to whom you testified,
here he is baptizing and everyone is coming to him.”
John answered and said,
“No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven.
You yourselves can testify that I said that I am not the Christ,
but that I was sent before him.
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom;
the best man, who stands and listens for him,
rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice.
So this joy of mine has been made complete.
He must increase; I must decrease.”

Hear his voice

1. Openly. Jesus speaks clearly and without hiding anything. You also have to learn to say things clearly; do not “beat about the bush” or misinterpret things… be straightforward in your actions and your words. Show your clear intentions. Don’t let anyone footnote what you do or say. Be clear, don’t double talk, saying one thing and doing another. That’s not what Christians should do, because we belong to God and his team.

2. You are God’s.  Listening to Jesus implies following Him. Always listen to God and seek Him. You are His… you play on His team. Put on your team jersey and play for Him. Following Jesus leads you to fall in love with Him and changes your viewpoint on life. That’s why it’s an adventure to follow Jesus. Don’t forget you have been called to eternal life.

3. Eternal life. God offers you Eternity! He leads you to eternal life so you can have a relationship with Him and enjoy everlasting life with Him. He doesn’t want to complicate your life, on the contrary, He makes life good. So, don’t be afraid of what God proposes to you… it’s something great! Sometimes, at first, you might not understand God’s action in your life, but over time, it will become clear.

There’s a lot to be done in this world and you can do much in the lives of those around you. Don’t be afraid because God is very close to you. He’s inviting you to love Him, for He has loved you first, and you can make others fall in love with Him too.

Don’t forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
