The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
Then the shepherds returned,
glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen,
just as it had been told to them.

When eight days were completed for his circumcision,
he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb.

Mary, Mother of God

1. In haste. Those who have a simple soul act without prejudice, like the shepherds in today’s gospel. It’s odd to see that the great religious people of that time think so much and don’t enjoy life and the God of Life, while those who were considered slow-witted and simple people enjoy God and act quickly. I frequently reflect on the fact that life is not about knowing much about living, but about acting in life. Life is not about being an intellectual of life, but rather about living life and nourishing your intellect from your experience. Being a better person doesn’t imply knowledge, not even religious knowledge, but being determined in your actions and seeing God in everything.

2. Mary. In the year 351, in Ephesus, it was discussed whether Mary was or wasn’t the mother of God. It’s clear that in Mary there’s love and surrender to Jesus. That corresponds to a mother, and she is the mother of Jesus who is the Second Person of the Divine Trinity and is God.

But take a step further, when you accept God in your life and meditate on life, you generate life by showing God to others. Being an evangelizer doesn’t mean having bibles to preach; it’s your life itself that becomes a walking bible. Bible means “library of life” and today you are called to give life with your life experience.
