Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4,14-22
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,
and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.
The spirit of truth
1. Teaching. Jesus has the strength to teach and act because He comes from the Holy Father, and the Holy Spirit is in him. You can find the necessary strength to confront daily life through prayer and closeness with God. Talk to God in your own style and manner but look for the moment where you can recharge your batteries and meet with Him. This also shows others the love of God that lives in you.
2. Proclaim and be free. This is your task, and we can summarize it in “live charity.” Charity is the ability to wish well to others and help others live well. It is letting other people into your life. Our love for the poor also implies helping people who feel inner emptiness and can’t find the sense of life. We are rich since we hold Jesus in our hearts.
3.A year acceptable to the Lord. This allows us to discover that Christians are not bad omen birds or calamity prophets that only announce negative things. We are called to proclaim with our life that we are men and women who are faithful to God and who serve others, and we smile at life with hope. Today, I invite you to be a pilgrim who announces hope and takes peace to all.
Don’t forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
