Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1, 40-45
A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said,
“If you wish, you can make me clean.”
Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand,
touched the leper, and said to him,
“I do will it. Be made clean.”
The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean.
Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once.
Then he said to him, “See that you tell no one anything,
but go, show yourself to the priest
and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed;
that will be proof for them.”
The man went away and began to publicize the whole matter.
He spread the report abroad
so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly.
He remained outside in deserted places,
and people kept coming to him from everywhere.
The cure
1. Ask for help. How many times it’s hard for you to ask for help, but you must realize that you are limited, affected and even infected by the things of life. Don’t stop asking God to help you with what is happening to you and with what is piercing your heart today. We all go through spiritual situations in which we feel fallen and confused. The problem isn’t being sick, the real problem is not accepting it and not asking for help.
2. If you wish. We all struggle with illness and find it hard to accept. Faced with illness and pain, we have two options: either to victimize ourselves or to seek help and a cure. This man in the Gospel asks Jesus to help him, respecting Christ’s freedom. It’s important to know how to accept God’s will and the reason why things happen. We must recognize that, many times, our own will takes precedence over Jesus’s will.
3. Publicize. Imprudence can always close doors and even keep Jesus away from the lives of others. How many people have distanced themselves from God and the Church because of our imprudence, for speaking too much or for simply showing fanciful things! Don’t let your imprudence in speaking lead you to distance people who need God and you. It’s better to speak less and coherently than to speak a lot and inconsistently. Give yourself the opportunity for others to find out more about you rather than giving away everything about yourself.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
