Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3, 7b-15
Jesus said to Nicodemus:
“‘You must be born from above.’
The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes,
but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes;
so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Nicodemus answered and said to him,
‘How can this happen?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this?
Amen, amen, I say to you,
we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen,
but you people do not accept our testimony.
If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe,
how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
No one has gone up to heaven
except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”
Born from above
1. Being born again. Being born again doesn’t just mean beginning to live the supernatural life but also remembering that it’s a process. It’s not that you jump into prayer and the sacraments right away; of course, it’s a hard day-to-day process. Because spiritual life isn’t a linear, ascending process, rather, it has its ups and downs. There are days when you’re fully immersed in prayer and visit the Blessed Sacrament, and other days you don’t even feel like praying. The important thing is to work at it, and it takes not just a moment but a lifetime.
2. Master. When we read this dialogue, we understand that we are called to live religion as a relationship with God, not as an endless list of rules related to God. Because in religion, you first live and then you write. Seek that relationship with God today and through that relationship, God will establish a full union with you.
3. Above. Don’t let your gaze remain solely on this world; try to see the whole picture, not just a part of it. Learn to live life fully and stop obsessing over small or worthless things. Take the step you need to take; learn to let go of what you need to. To look upward, you must learn to let go of the things that tie you down.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
