Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 6, 30-35
The crowd said to Jesus:
“What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?
What can you do?
Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:
He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”
So Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven;
my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world.”
So they said to Jesus,
“Sir, give us this bread always.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
The bread of Life
1. People. When we do things for people we might lose sight of the essential motivation that moves us in life. Because people are unstable, today they want one thing and tomorrow another; today they condemn you and tomorrow you are their hero. Learn to listen to people but discern well what you are do for them.
2. They ate. Jesus teaches you that He is the true food that satiates. To fulfill people, the key is to give Him to others, because He is powerful and eternal, while you and I are limited and flawed. Your job and mine is to satisfy others of Him and not of us, because we are transient. Learn to give Him and not give yourself as if you were the savior.
3. The Bread of Life. In the face of need we must always give what can satisfy people, and not simply things that might deceive them, deceive their hunger. There are times when instead of satisfying people we deceive them with passing or momentary things and eventually we discover that we haven’t been able to satisfy them at all. Today let’s give Jesus and show Jesus to others. I sometimes feel like a spiritual snack, that’s when I’m reminded that people are not looking for me, but for Jesus whom I have come to introduce to you.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
