Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 6, 43- 49
Jesus said to his disciples:
“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit,
nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.
For every tree is known by its own fruit.
For people do not pick figs from thornbushes,
nor do they gather grapes from brambles.
A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,
but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil;
for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?
I will show you what someone is like who comes to me,
listens to my words, and acts on them.
That one is like a man building a house,
who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock;
when the flood came, the river burst against that house
but could not shake it because it had been well built.
But the one who listens and does not act
is like a person who built a house on the ground
without a foundation.
When the river burst against it,
it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.”
Be a firm rock
1. The fruits of your actions. In life, we often do things based on belief systems—the famous “because it’s always been done that way” line, which happens everywhere. We do things automatically without having the courage to ask ourselves why. There comes a moment in life when we realize that we put God in a fortress of rules and conditions that suffocate the love He came to give, trapping Him in our own actions that we judge as either a sin or not. It’s sad to see your life stuck in a religious bunker where everything is filtered through laws and doctrines that many call “sound doctrine.” I don’t disagree with the doctrine, but I can’t be your judge, just as you can’t be mine. Don’t fall into the trap of seeing the Church’s mission as simply giving you a list of what you can and can’t do and telling you whether you’ve messed up or not. I’m not wise enough to tell you what to do at every moment. That’s why the true fruit of your actions comes from your connection with God. “Love and do what you will” is a quote attributed to Saint Augustine and means that actions based on true love of God will naturally be good and aligned with his will.
2. Goodness. Everyone speaks from what is in their heart. Let this help you decide who you share your life with. Look at people’s hearts, but most importantly, look at their actions. Understand that people are a reflection of what’s inside them. Therefore, don’t let someone who has deceived you once steal your life.
3. Be a rock. Take care of your foundations and the essential values you were raised with. Learn what to say yes to and what to say no to. God wants your life to have a solid foundation, and the solid foundations of your life are those things that bring you inner peace.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
