Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9, 7-9
Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening,
and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying,
“John has been raised from the dead”;
others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”;
still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.”
But Herod said, “John I beheaded.
Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”
And he kept trying to see him.
Trying to see Jesus
1. The tetrarch. In Herod we see the figure of the person who wants everything at any cost. He represents those people who know no boundaries, who are blinded by power, and I don’t mean only blinded by money. Power isn’t just that. Power is seeking information about others to manipulate them, wanting to control the lives of others, even believing you are better than others. I’m referring to people who accept no limits and consider others who set limits as threats to their power. This may happen to us as well; we all have a bit of that; we like to feel we are the center of the world.
2. What they say. This makes me think of cold, indifferent Christians, who only hear about God but don’t come to know Him. I’m referring to those who don’t get to know Jesus through the Bible, who don’t even dare to read a paragraph; to those who don’t look for a personal encounter with Jesus visiting him in the Blessed Sacrament or participating in a Eucharistic celebration. Don’t settle with “what you’ve been told”, search for him, and take a moment of silence to talk to him and gradually know him better.
3. Try to see him. It means seeking God, getting to know more about him entering into him. Once you do, you will long to be with him to feel joy and happiness. May you be filled with the desire to seek him so that you may feel happiness and joy and know his love. I’m not able to solve your problems, but I will show you a small path. Everything becomes smoother with God. Trust, and seek him.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
