Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5, 1- 12a
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in heaven.”
Be blessed!
1. Blessed. Today, we honor the Church Triumphant—the Church in heaven. This includes both saints officially recognized by the Church and those known only to God, who watch over us, support us, and speak to God on our behalf. We also remember the unsung saints, the anonymous saints: people who revealed their love for God through their actions. Though they were never canonized by a Pope, their earthly goodness has led them to Heaven. Today is a chance to remember all those who brought a little of Jesus into our lives, performed kind deeds, and left a lasting impact. Reflect on those people who did great good; surely, they continue to help us from Heaven. We also celebrate the saints honored by the Church, so take time to show gratitude to those who have aided you, such as St. Joseph.
2. Heaven. This is the ultimate goal in our journey to find God. On earth, we’re imperfect, we’re sinners but we strive on because heaven is our goal! Nobody living on earth is a saint, but we start experiencing happiness here, and its fullness awaits us in Heaven. With Jesus, we find joy and strength; everything is more manageable with Him. Jesus teaches us that sanctification happens in our everyday routines—in our homes, workplaces, and daily responsibilities. Each day, we have the choice to make our lives a taste of Heaven or otherwise, so give your best effort!
3. The Blessed Mother. The Blessed Mother. We must remember the Mother of God, the Queen of Saints. She endured all the hardships and joys life can bring. Today, let’s ask her to guide us, grant us peace, and walk with us so we may one day embrace her in eternity. She is always with us, never abandons us, because she is our mother—the Blessed Mother who constantly stands by our side.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
