Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 17, 10-13
As they were coming down from the mountain,
the disciples asked Jesus,
“Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
He said in reply, “Elijah will indeed come and restore all things;
but I tell you that Elijah has already come,
and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased.
So also will the Son of Man suffer at their hands.”
Then the disciples understood
that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
Elijah is John
1. Come. Elijah represents God’s messenger, a prophet. Throughout your life, you’ll encounter “Elijahs”, people who guide, warn, and advise you about your choices and behaviors. It’s important to be open, to observe, and to truly listen. Don’t be impulsive or close yourself off; life teaches us through mistakes and through the advice of others. Allow yourself to be helped and learn to listen. I thank God for surrounding me with caring people, and I’m even grateful for those who have corrected me to help me stay on the right path. Today, I rely on these people; they know me well and understand my story. I also know they care for me and help me live better. Do you have someone like that in your life? You may not realize how much good they do for you.
2. Order. At times, everyone strays off course, and we must accept that we don’t always do the right thing. The key is allowing people to point it out and help us. Today, pray to Jesus for help in bringing order to your life. When your life is ordered, your goals are clear. Ask Jesus to give you the strength to maintain order in your life and your way of living.
3. Suffer. There are people who are difficult or negative, and sometimes they seek to harm you. For this reason, don’t give space to those who complicate things or seek to disrupt your life. Pray that Jesus helps you distance yourself from those who draw you away from your purpose. Keep seeking Jesus, so your life stays centered on Him.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
