Matthew 18, 12-14

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 18, 12-14

Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.”

Seek

1. To Have. In this life, you already have what you need to be happy, yet it’s easy to get lost in your own ego or stubbornness. Sometimes you fail to value your achievements and blessings, focusing instead on what you don’t have. The problem is when you create your own needs, many of which are fictional or a product of your imagination or your own desire.

2. To Go. If you lose what you love and what makes you happy, you must seek it out, but that also means learning to let go. You can’t hold onto everything; there are situations that require giving something up to gain what truly benefits you, nourishes you, and brings you wholeness. Reflect on your life to discern whether it’s time to leave something or someone behind to find what or who truly completes you. Sometimes, it requires taking a leap of faith.

3) Rejoice. True joy arises from feeling whole and complete. When something brings you happiness, it’s often because you’ve faced life head-on and embraced your reality. Yet, before you can truly seek what completes you, you need to recognize what’s missing.

Always remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
