Matthew 11, 28-30

Your relief

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11, 28-30

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Your relief

1. Come. When life gets tough, you might feel alone and misunderstood. It’s easy to shut yourself off and withdraw from the world. But when problems arise, it’s important to ask for help. If you don’t, you may end up feeling even more isolated and unwilling to talk to anyone. Often, this happens because you’re afraid people won’t understand, or you worry about being a bother. Today, Jesus invites you to come to Him because He’s always ready to listen and welcome you.

2. Relief. When you hit your lowest point, it can feel impossible to find relief. During my hardest times, I even took medication to help me sleep. My psychiatrist told me, “You’ll start to feel better as you talk and let others help you. Medication can help, but the real key is speaking about how you feel.” I learned that discovering what’s troubling you is the first step to healing, and gradually you’ll begin to feel better. So, talk about what’s happening to you, and dare to share your feelings without fear of feeling judged or condemned. Relief comes when you open up, whether it’s with someone you trust or by talking to Jesus in the Tabernacle, or by writing.  True relief comes from God. He wants to relieve your soul of everything that takes away your peace; He will comfort you and give you peace of heart.

3. Light. Everyone needs relief, especially today when life feels rushed and overwhelming; we don’t have time for anything, not even for ourselves. Allow yourself to seek comfort in Jesus and in your spiritual life. Remember, your happiness is yours, and nothing and no one can take it away.

Never forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
