Matthew 9, 27-31

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 27-31

As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out,
“Son of David, have pity on us!”
When he entered the house,
the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them,
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they said to him.
Then he touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
And their eyes were opened.
Jesus warned them sternly,
“See that no one knows about this.”
But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.

Being Grateful

1. Blind. When you can’t clearly see where your life is heading, you may find yourself joining others who are also lost, and together, your lives become disconnected from reality—almost like living in an illusion, walking along paths that are unnecessary. It’s not enough to simply try to determine your own direction; you must also be mindful of the people you socialize with. Both you and your companions could end up without purpose or destination. Take time to discern who you spend time with, who you share your life with and who you allow to influence your journey.

2. Believe. Faith is what gives you courage and opens the door to true freedom. Learn to exercise your freedom when making choices but never let go of your faith in the process. Trusting in someone or something has the power to transform your life, and for those of us who have faith, life’s challenges become lighter, because your steps and decisions are guided by that trust.

3. They spread the word. I will always ask you to be cautious about what you share regarding your personal life. Not everyone close to you will celebrate your successes, and envy can arise unexpectedly. Be thoughtful about whom you confide in, remembering that you don’t have to share everything that happens to you. Practice discretion and prudence in your words and actions.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
