Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4, 14-22
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,
and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.
Throughout the region
1. Fame. Fame is connected to your reputation and to what others say about you. There’s a “rule of thirds”: one-third of people will care for you, one-third won’t like you or may even dislike you, and one-third won’t know you but will still have opinions about you. It’s like saying that among twelve people, there’s always a Judas. However, when two people criticize you, there are twenty-two who support you. Therefore, don’t chase fame just to earn people’s approval; instead, focus on fulfilling your purpose, and everything else will fall into place.
2. The Spirit. Discover how to view life from a spiritual perspective. Don’t let material concerns be your only focus. Recently, a friend confided, “Help me reconnect with God, because I lost touch with Him by focusing solely on my needs and material things.” Take time today to nurture your spiritual life; it can guide you through life’s challenges.
3. Admiration. There’s a distinction between fame and admiration. Fame stems from what others say about you, while admiration is based on what others see in you. Allow yourself to recognize your own value and remember your identity. This self-awareness will help you clarify what you seek in life and how you wish to live.
Don’t forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
