Matthew 25, 31-46

Matthew 25, 31-46

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25,31-46

Jesus said to his disciples: “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne,
and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,
naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’
Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’
He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’
And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

You who are blessed by my Father

1) The Church: As you know there are three types of Churches, one that is triumphant, one that is purgative and one that is of pilgrimage. The triumphant Church refers to what we celebrated yesterday, those who enjoy the presence of God and are souls that rejoice in Heaven. The Purgative Church is what we celebrate today, we pray for those who are purging their sins and need our prayers and mass in order to receive help. If you visit the cemetery today you earn indulgences and we help the souls in Purgatory. We also have the Pilgrim Church where you and I walk through life and fight against Satan to remove our peace. I read an author who stated the following about Halloween: on Nov. 1st when we celebrate all souls that have made it to Heaven and are with God, in opposition to our celebration, on October 31st the devil celebrates the souls he holds in hell. It called my attention and today I share it with you to remember that Halloween is not part of our faith or our culture.

2) Your brother: what you do on Earth has divine impact or resonance. What is important is to be a good person and fight to reach this goal, do not harm anyone and avoid complicating life to others. Life is short, but it is also a privilege to live it. It is more bountiful if we help others, do not stop looking to do good deeds daily, even though you might believe that bad people have it better. Let your life be an accomplishment everyone can be proud of, loving God and doing your best every day.

3) When we saw: Selfishness and pride are two aspects that complicate life significantly. It is up to you to have a generous and open heart to see everything that surrounds you and prevent you to think negatively. Realize that life is not only what you see or feel, but there are people that are close to you that are not living the life they should. Please look around and realize it.

May God Almighty bless you in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. And remember, Heaven is our goal
