Luke 1, 67-69

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Luke 1, 67-69

Then Zechariah his father, filled with the holy Spirit, prophesied, saying:
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and brought redemption to his people. He has raised up a horn for our salvation within the house of David his servant.

Those of you that go to Mass before midday will be able to meditate on this lecture. Those of you who will go to Mass will be able to meditate on Christmas Eve. Let´s meditate together.

1) Prepare: this is the word that we are going to talk about. The gospel shows us a Zacharias full of the Holy Spirit that tells us that through the baptism we are prophets and we are called upon to prepare the road. Today you are being called to prepare your house not because of the guests or the food but to find Peace that will be granted by God. Prepare everyone around you so they can live for forgiveness and peace. Tonight, can be a night for reconciliation and to face our truths again. To help others. To be joyful. Prepare to be delighted tonight.

2) Illuminate: It is to give light to those who live in shadow, live away from God or are confused. Show your love for God. Put baby Jesus in the center of your table so that you can experience a spiritual night. Be the light with a smile, a hug, a consolation by saying everything will be all right.

3) Guide: Be a guide for peace. Look for peace in your heart. Avoid silly discussions, walk in the light of peace and be a guide for others. Prepare, illuminate and guide are the 3 objectives that you can celebrate when you look at everyone in the eye and say to yourself God did not forget about me and I have not forgotten God. Merry Christmas!

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember, Heaven is Our Goal !
