Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4,14-22.
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read
and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them, “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.
God is sending you.
- Teaching: Jesus has the strength to teach and act since he comes from the Holy Father. It is through prayer and dialogue with God where you can find the necessary strength to confront daily life. Talk to God with your own style and manner, but look for the moment where you can charge your batteries and meet with Him. This also teaches others your love for God that lives in you.
- Announce and be free: this is your task and we can summarize it in “live charity”. Charity is the ability to wish well to others and help others live well. It is letting another person inside your life. Our love for the poor implies help to the person that is empty inside and cannot find the sense of life. We are rich since we hold Jesus in our hearts.
- One-year grace period: this allows us to discover that Christians are not bad omen birds or calamity prophets that only announce negative things. We are called to proclaim that we are men and women of Good and we smile at life with hope. Today we invite you to be a wayfarer in life that announces and carries peace.
May God bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Always remember heaven is our goal
