Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 20,24-29
Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
A faithful apostle
1 ) He was not with them: there are times when our apostolic enthusiasm – like overdoing our committment to service activities – can lead us to distance ourselves from our communities and end up making us feel abandoned and alone. As a result, we may become isolated people from our community. Our communal life is important because it is there, we find Jesus. Please dont become isolated, rather become part, and share with others.
2) I dont see you: in life many of us become harmed with hardness in our hearts and our rational focus makes us lose sight of what is important in life. The obstacles in life also hardened your heart, hurting and withdrawing you from your relationship with God. An apostle of Jesus that is alone and away from their community may become too rational and a mere ideologist. Community and prayer are key to being an apostle.
3) Believe: Faith is what always leads us to Jesus. It is Jesus who comes in a daily encounter, that requires faith. It is faith that helps you be happy. Faith is what makes you strong and constant. Faith is also what leads you on the road of life. Have faith and follow Gods plan.
God bless you In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
