John 12 24-26

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12,24-26

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.
Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life.
Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.”

The process of letting go to win

1. If I don’t die, I will remain alone. I could say that today we’ll be talking about the process of a narcissistic person – someone who likes to have all the spotlights on them. That person always likes to show off, he likes to shine, he wants to be above others; he wants to have the final word. He is a person who does not like to lose… Forgive me for being hard, I’m going to give an example: it’s the person who wants to have a wife but also wants to have a lover. He’s only interested in fulfilling his own desires and he doesn’t want to miss out on anything. He hates to feel some sort of need.

2. Alone. When you are afraid to take a chance in life, you end up being left alone. When you don’t learn to take risks for what you love; for what you want, or for what you feel, you may end up all by yourself. I’m thinking of a person who, for fear of married life or priesthood, stays with his parents all his life. It is easy because he knows that he’ll be comfortable there. I’m thinking of those who don’t have the courage to take on the adventure of life; they avoid taking risks in life. But, because of this, they end up being left alone. Life demands risks; it’s a matter of learning to let go, and learning to try. If you fail or make a mistake say, “I’m sorry”, and start over. I understand that you might feel fear, but it’s something that sooner or later you have to face. We go through different stages in life and at every stage there is a test you have to face and overcome. If you are alone (in the sense of negative loneliness), it is either because you want to be, or it is the result of your fear of letting go. If you complain of being alone, think about what fears you have not wanted to face.

3. Honor. Today God is showing you that if your life is based on service, you will never be alone. A person who has a positive vision of life and serves others, will never be alone. There’s something divine inside of you that allows you to confront your fears and fight them. I call it Faith. Faith in God, and also faith in yourself. I’m inviting you today to believe in yourself and let go of everything you’re not. Let go to win. Take care of your integrity, your honor. Your honor is to keep your feet on the ground : knowing who you are and that what is happening around you does not change you. Knowing who you truly are, You can change what is happening around you. Come on! Take the plunge! Jump in the deep end! I assure you that you will be able to swim!

May God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And remember Heaven is our goal.
