Luke 9,46-50

Luke 9 46-50

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9,46-50

An argument arose among the disciples about which of them was the greatest.
Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side
and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.”
Then John said in reply, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow in our company.”
Jesus said to him, “Do not prevent him, for whoever is not against you is for you.”

In littleness we can find greatness

1 Know your thoughts. God knows everything about you, do not lie to him. Rather, open yourself up to him and show yourself just as you are. Don’t be afraid to open your heart to him; God already knows what’s wrong with you, what you’re suffering, what others have done to you, everything. Abandon yourself into his hands and also tell him about your miseries and ask him to help you – to help you fight against that excessive ambition you have, to help you overcome that pride that makes you believe that you are superior to others or that selfishness that leads you to hurt others. Jesus knows you and has been speaking to you for a long time. God speaks to you in the simple things of everyday life. God is speaking to you; listen to him!

2 Being little. In a few days’ time we’ll be celebrating St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, “the Little Flower of Jesus”, a French nun who became an example of dedication and love to God. How much she grew in maturity in the Carmelite Monastery! She devoted herself to living a life of holiness, doing all things with love and childlike trust in God. She came to say, “My Heaven will be spent doing good on Earth.” Today, let’s pray to God to help us mature in our path and always be able to always do good. St. Thérèse is the patron saint of missions, because the church teaches us that proclaiming Jesus goes through a very important principle “talking to him and contemplating him”. You can’t give what you don’t have, and you can’t teach what you don’t know. Thérèse came to know Jesus and his love, and this led her to be a missionary in simplicity, in her ‘little way’ of loving God and neighbor. Whoever loves, becomes simple.

3 Do not stop anyone. Let’s not be Christians who cause problems or stop others from working for Christ, let’s not prevent others from proclaiming Jesus. Let’s not be birds of ill omen who are always focusing on negative things, like Pope John XXIII used to say, let’s not be ‘prophets of calamities’. Many brothers and sisters have the desire to proclaim the love of God and be witness to his mercy. Let many get to know Jesus through the testimony of other brethren. Let’s go out and announce. And like Thérèse, let us begin our mission by praying and contemplating. Let’s pray the rosary, shall we? Even if it is only one mystery (one Our Father and ten Hail Marys). Come on, join us in a rosary for the Church!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember Heaven is our goal!

Your contribution help us to continue with our mission
God Bless You!
