Luke 17, 7-10

Luke 17 7-10

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17,7-10

Jesus said to the Apostles: “Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’?
Would he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished’?
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'”

To be servants

1 A servant: Jesus teaches us that we should be where we need to be, and do what we have to do. Today Jesus reminds us that in life, we do not need to fill our day with all kinds of activities in order to be saved; we must do what we are required to do… do that which corresponds to us.

2 Complaints: We must not victimize ourselves or complain about our work or daily chores. It is important to remember that everything in life requires effort; fight for it and face what comes your way. Leave being a victim behind, and stop complaining. Your work in life requires strength and effort, otherwise your obligations will become unbearable burdens.

3 Humility: Work, and do not expect anything in return. This is how we must act: work, then disappear. Many people act only for the spotlight. No! That’s not right. We must serve with humility as Jesus taught us.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
