Holy Gospel according to Saint John 13, 31-35

When Judas had left them, Jesus said,
“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him,
God will also glorify him in himself,
and God will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
I give you a new commandment: love one another.
As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.
This is how all will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”

God is always with us

1) My children. The tenderness of Jesus is beginning to manifest itself more clearly. Soon we will celebrate the feast of the Ascension. We should know that God is always at our side, even or especially in hard and difficult moments. He is there in silence, like the situation that Mother Teresa recalled in her dream. She saw footprints on the sand, she asked Jesus what it meant, and He answered that it was the journey of her life, that is why there were two sets of footprints, his and hers. She asked him why at certain times there was only one set of footprints, why He had left her alone. Jesus, smiling, said: “Those are not your footprints, they are mine, for I was carrying you in my arms”.

2) Love. Jesus reminds us that we must love one another. A great crisis that we suffer in the Church is the lack of unity among us; at times, we set out to destroy one another. Sometimes, it seems that at church meetings we are expecting someone to leave first to start criticizing him or her. Today, Jesus reminds us that we must love one another and accompany one another. We must welcome and accept one another, because no one is clean, the Church is for sinners.

3) Disciples. A disciple is called to communion and communion leads to discipleship. Your proclamation of Jesus is in your community life and not in isolation. Learn to live together and accept your brothers and sisters as they are, do not try to change them your way, instead, learn to know their way of living. Let’s not judge, let’s accompany.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember that Heaven is our goal.
