Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 21, 1-4
When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people
putting their offerings into the treasury
and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.
He said, “I tell you truly,
this poor widow put in more than all the rest;
for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”
The Widow
1. Looked up. As November draws to a close and we prepare for the last month of the year, raise your eyes. Don’t let discouragement take hold and resist letting others pull you down. This is a season when fatigue sets in and you may find yourself wrestling with negative thoughts or dwelling on what you haven’t achieved. Try to see things from a higher, spiritual perspective. Keep moving forward in your life, remembering that you are on a journey with purpose and direction. Stay true to yourself and keep fighting for your values, even when others try to convince you otherwise.
2. Different situations. When you look up, you become aware that everyone around you is facing different circumstances. Recognize that not everyone is in the same place; some people may be struggling more than you, they’re going through a bad time and yet they maintain a positive outlook. Dear friend, life isn’t about comparing who has more or less. It’s about embracing what you have and being mindful of where you don’t want to go.
3. She gave everything she had. Life passes quickly for us all. So it’s important to take this lesson to heart: giving your best effort in everything you do is essential. Don’t delay what you can accomplish today and try to find more joy in life instead of focusing on complaints. Take heart—God will always be with you. At the same time, never stop making plans for your dreams and future projects.
Always remember that something good is on the way! God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
