Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 4, 43-54
At that time Jesus left [Samaria] for Galilee.
For Jesus himself testified
that a prophet has no honor in his native place.
When he came into Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him,
since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the feast;
for they themselves had gone to the feast.
Then he returned to Cana in Galilee,
where he had made the water wine.
Now there was a royal official whose son was ill in Capernaum.
When he heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,
he went to him and asked him to come down
and heal his son, who was near death.
Jesus said to him,
“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will not believe.”
The royal official said to him,
“Sir, come down before my child dies.”
Jesus said to him, “You may go; your son will live.”
The man believed what Jesus said to him and left.
While the man was on his way back,
his slaves met him and told him that his boy would live.
He asked them when he began to recover.
They told him,
“The fever left him yesterday, about one in the afternoon.”
The father realized that just at that time Jesus had said to him,
“Your son will live,”
and he and his whole household came to believe.
Now this was the second sign Jesus did
when he came to Galilee from Judea.
Your son will live
1. Prophet. When you live in the truth, it’s bound to bother some people. Your life may be like a light that reveals the lies of those around you. The most important thing, however, is to stay true to your values and let your actions speak for themselves. They say, “no one is a prophet in their own land,” and it’s always those closest to us who give us the hardest time. But it’s important to remember why you do what you do and who you are doing it for. There will always be people close to you who make things difficult.
2. The official. Jesus shows no favoritism; He brings comfort to everyone. We should remember this about Him: just because someone thinks differently doesn’t make them an enemy. Even if we disagree, we should help whenever we can. This is especially true in the times we’re living in, where it seems like people are willing to tear each other apart over public figures rather than actual ideals. In the past, people followed ideas passionately, but now it’s more about individuals. So, help others whenever you can, without worrying about their political views or favorite sports team.
3. He lives. Faith grows when our false expectations fall apart. That’s why we can’t just let life just slip by. We are meant to live fully; we have so much to give, to do and share what we have. Do things that make you feel alive, and life will give you what you need to be happy.
Never forget that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
