Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13,18-21
Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a person took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and ‘the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.'”
Again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”
1) Mustard seed: Jesus refers to your life. I don’t know if you ever did this, … but sometimes I would lay down on the ground looking at the stars and contemplate how small I am…facing such huge universe. Your life is marked by small things, but those things are what turn you into a giant. There are times when you grumble, you get angry and you get tired, but don’t stop doing the little things every day: making the bed, saying hello, treating everyone with kindness, well … the little things are what make you a great person.
2) Yeast: Nowadays we are going through a leaders’ crisis: in politics, in the Church, and in society. We need people who are like yeast; who lead the way, who illuminate, who teach others to think, who move. We need you today. Don’t wait for someone else to come. Get involved so that this society changes and seeks the best for everyone. Today we need yeast Christians: people who get involved, play ball and know how to guide. Get more involved in your family, in your society, and in your faith. We need you.
3) The dough: it is necessary to know we are in the world, but that we are not of the world. We speak of heaven but we work on earth. We are called to passionately love the world and that is where we must put God’s love. Don’t let the worldly things contaminate you. Flood this world with peace that comes from a believing heart in love with Life.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
